About the Holcombes:
Peter and Kathy Holcombe once owned a pretty traditional mom and pop studio based in Boulder, CO that catered to a high end wedding and portrait clientele. Two years ago, they sold their home studio and moved both their family and business into a Winnebago RV and hit the road, taking their eleven year old daughter along on the adventure of a lifetime.
Over the past 24 months, their business model has changed dramatically. While they still create fine art portraiture in some of the most dramatic landscapes across the continent, the Holcombes have turned their lenses inward, focusing on their personal adventures in wild and scenic places, and creating social media content for top brands such as Winnebago, GoPro, Goal Zero and Jackson Kayak.
Currently they are on a 24 stop tour - kayaking, climbing, hiking and biking their way through National Parks across the country in celebration of the centennial of the National Park Service in 2016. The Holcombes have carved out a one of a kind niche in the outdoor adventure sports arena, and are pioneering new business models of professional photography.

Schedule:
Monday, May 2 - Benicia, CA -
Bambi Cantrell’s studio with great buildings of the historic Arsenal nearby with water for kayaking Inspiration - It is time to put aside everything you have ever done, and really think about what you want. Now is the time to dream the impossible and start implementing your prefect business. This segment is designed to help you think outside the box on what the possibilities might be.
Business Plan - What type of photography do you want to do? How many sessions will your shoot? How much do you need to make at each session? How much can you spend on equipment, employees, rent, etc. This segment is designed to give you a big picture view of your business and what you will need to do to make the living that you want/need. Ambient and On-Camera Flash - This segment will focus on the fundamentals of ambient light and basic flash photography, and will teach you when and how to use small shoe mount flashes on your camera to create an off camera look. This could be an urban walking tour.
Tuesday, May 3 - Sturgeon’s Mill (Redwoods), Sebastopol, CA
Business Basics - This segment will help you focus on the important numbers of your business and how they can help you make informed decisions about employees, commercial storefronts and more. If you’ve ever wondered if you should move into a storefront (or out of one), hire an employee or outsource some of your workflow, you can find the answers within the numbers of your own business.
Pricing 1 - The first step to developing a great pricing structure is figuring out exactly what you want to create and then determining what you have to charge for it. This segment will help guide you into products you love, eliminate those you don’t and price each so that you have a profitable and sustainable business.
Off-Camera Flash - This segment will teach you how to use off camera, small, shoe-mount flashes (with and without modifiers) to create a sculpted lighting effect.
Wednesday, May 4: Castello di Amorosa, Calistoga, CA
Pricing 2 - Once you know what you are offering, it is time to put your creative brain to work in developing a pricing strategy to guide your clients to purchase exactly what you want them to buy. This segment will help you get inside the head of your buyer and develop a fool proof pricing menu.
Sales - Once your pricing structure is in place, it is time to develop the sales environment and strategy to make it all come together. This segment is designed to develop a process with your clients that is comfortable, easy and profitable.
On-Location Studio Quality Lighting - This segment will teach you how to use larger and more powerful studio quality strobes on location with and without large modifiers. This technique can be used alone or combined with all the other principles to allow you to create really dramatic images in any location.
